STAR Youth (Special-Needs Training And Resources) runs programmes and centres for special needs youths and young adults, as well as provide resources for parents or caregivers of these clients.

The Social Club provides a platform for young persons with special needs to socialise and enjoy fun activities without feeling self-conscious. At our monthly meetings, we have games to draw them out and geared towards improving their motor skills. The Social Club also provides a respite for parents and care givers. At each meeting, we have about 40 to 45 young persons with special needs including those who have graduated from either our Day Training Centre or our Job Training Centre.

The Living Skills Learning Centre was started to teach youth with learning disabilities who are not academically inclined. It teaches basic living, coping and social skills. The curriculum is specially designed to teach them living and coping skills such as cooking, sewing, household chores, awareness of danger, table manners and grooming. We run activities that help them to improve their fine and gross motor skills.
Wednesdays & Friday
(2.00 pm – 4:30 pm)

The Job Training Centre is a sheltered employment opportunity which caters specially for young adults with special needs some of whom are graduates of our Day Training Centre. They are taught work ethics and trained for jobs like packing, inserting leaflets, basic sewing and cooking. To provide income-generating opportunities for them, we would source for small contract jobs like office cleaning, leaflet distribution and packing. We would also guide them to make things like candies, “sambal” and rugs and then help them to sell their output through different channels. We welcome opportunities for partnership.
Tuesday – Friday

Parent Support Group meets on a monthly basis, concurrently with the Social Club. This serves as a platform where parents and caregivers meet to hear from the Head of Ministry, to exchange ideas and to encourage one another.
