Every person matters - whether young or old, male or female - as everyone is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
As a proud Malaysian, I celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity and treasure the emphasis of love, respect and honour towards one another.
As a member of the global citizenry, I have learnt to appreciate the value of sowing and investing in generations to come. But despite the generations’ efforts to build a better tomorrow, there appears to be little evidence of lasting outcomes, especially when it seems to be often met with the increasing hostility and complexity of humankind.
However, I take comfort in the hope we have, that Christ will restore all things to Himself again and make all things new (Revelation 21:5). For this reason, as God’s people, we do not give up hope but continue to fix our eyes on God – Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) who has overcome the world (John 16:33).
With this great hope, CES will continue to play an active role in being the voice to the voiceless (Proverbs 31: 8-10), to be the rebuilder of walls and restorer of homes (Isaiah 58:12), to defend the cause of the fatherless and the widows, and to love the people residing among us (Deuteronomy 10:18).
And in everything we do, we want to do it with the love of Christ. I encourage you therefore to step up in faith, to step out with courage to make known God’s way to the outcast, the poor and needy. Together, we can bring hope to the hopeless.
So, join us this day to be the salt and light of the world!
